General Information

Denstone and District Garden Guild was formed nearly 50 years ago to provide a platform for people interested in gardening and plant life in general to get together, exchange ideas and enjoy talks from speakers who specialise in various aspect of gardening and associated subjects.

Our meetings are held in Denstone Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month from September to November, then January through to April. Our meetings are informal with a talk by a guest speaker followed by tea/coffee and biscuits and a raffle. We currently have 40 members and are always pleased to welcome new members. Anyone who is interested in joining should come along to one of our meetings. Visitors are most welcome.

A festive lunch is enjoyed on the first Sunday in December, a coffee morning and fundraiser is held on a Saturday morning in early May and an evening visit is arranged on the first Monday evening in June to a garden which opens as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS).

For many years the Guild has been responsible for awarding The British Legion Cup to anyone who has enhanced village life, or the Garden Guild in particular. This is awarded annually at the coffee morning and fundraiser.

The Guild is a member of the Staffordshire Association of Garden Guilds which meets quarterly at Walton Community Centre, Walton, Stone and holds a Spring and Summer show at the same venue.
