Denstone Branch of the British Legion was formed after the First World War 1914-198 (possibly in 1921). The Branch normally meets twice a year in the Bowls Pavilion once in April, which is the AGM, and again in September to arrange the Poppy Appeal sale and make arrangements for the Remembrance Day service in Denstone Church. This service is followed by the parade to the War Memorial for the wreath laying ceremony.
Although a very small branch, membership these days only just getting into double figures, we manage to raise a considerable amount of money each year during the Annual Poppy Appeal.
Invitations to take part in neighbouring branch activities and events at The National Memorial Arboretum are often received. Whilst most members are unable to respond, our Standard Bearer endeavours to attend, especially for National Memorial events.
With few people leaving the Forces these days, attracting new members has proved difficult, but anyone who is interested in joining should contact any of the officers listed below. They would be most welcome.
