Denstone Players

The Denstone Players recently celebrated their 20th birthday. The group, which started with 10 members, has had many people come and go over the years, with a few having been involved from the beginning, and is a very happy society. An average of two plays are produced every year in Denstone Village Hall, which are well supported by the village and other amateur dramatics groups.
As well as actors, the group has behind- the-scenes workers, a producer, director and people taking on other roles, with numbers now being around 20. The secretary of The Denstone Players is Eileen Leedham.

Young Denstone Players
Young Denstone Players was set up four years ago by members of Denstone Players when villagers were asking for more activities for their children. YDP is a drama club, for members aged 8 years and upwards, which meets in the Village Hall on Thursdays from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. during term time. Drama skills, as well as social interaction and confidence in speaking and presenting oneself, are learnt through various games and activities, and we aim to undertake at least one play production during the year.
The membership fee of £5 per family per term obviously doesn’t cover our costs, but in the past, we have been helped by The Denstone Youth Fund and a grant from Staffordshire Outreach. The adult or ‘Old’ Denstone Players are still our main supporters.
